Faces of the Past is a series combining vintage photography with painting, recreating portraits from old photographs to evoke the emotions and memories embedded in history. These works are not merely artistic representations of the past but a continuation and elevation of the emotional resonance of historical memories. Through this series, the artist aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia for bygone days and provoke reflection on the emotions and stories carried by old photographs.

The core of this project lies in the fusion of vintage photography and painting. Starting with vintage photographs, the artist meticulously enhances each portrait with hand-drawn details, using classic oil painting techniques and retro color tones to infuse each photo with new life and emotion. These portraits not only reveal the external appearance of the subjects but also, through delicate brushstrokes and color variations, unveil the inner worlds of the individuals and the hidden stories behind them. The subjects of Faces of the Past are mainly derived from early to mid-20th-century photographs.
