Among these artistic forms, Thangka art stands out as a representative of Tibetan Buddhist art. Creating a Thangka is not merely about technique; it is also a spiritual practice that reflects the intimate connection between art, meditation, and religious rituals.

This course will guide participants through the essential principles and philosophies of Tibetan Buddhism, exploring different Buddhist schools (such as Nyingma, Kagyu, Gelug, etc.) and their relationship with Thangka art. Through both theoretical lessons and hands-on practice, students will learn how to incorporate the core teachings of Buddhism, its symbols, and profound philosophy into the Thangka art form.

A key highlight of the course is the opportunity for students to create their own Thangka. From sketching to the final piece, each participant will be guided through the process of Thangka painting, learning to use traditional natural materials such as gold dust, mineral pigments, and plant dyes. Students will master the standard techniques of Thangka painting, creating art that carries religious meaning while experiencing the tranquility and focus that meditation brings.

The course will also cover the structure and elements of Thangka, including Buddha figures, Bodhisattvas, deities, mandalas, lotus flowers, and the Dharma wheel.
