Time is invisible, silently passing by, taking memories with it, and leaving traces of its passage. In everyone’s life, time brings constant change, yet it often eludes direct perception. “Contours of Time” is a series of copperplate engravings that attempts to bring the intangible nature of time into visible form. Through delicate lines, gradient colors, and layered patterns, I seek to capture the flow and transformation of time, turning it from an abstract concept into a tangible artistic form.

Copperplate engraving, an ancient and classic printmaking technique, is known for its intricate lines and distinctive printing effects. For “Contours of Time,” I employed etching, carving, and printing techniques to create artworks that reflect the subtle and invisible flow of time. The detailed craftsmanship in each piece reveals my deep understanding and reflection on time, and the texture of copperplate engraving imparts a timeless, almost eternal quality to the works.

Each piece in this series offers a unique interpretation of time. Through gradient colors and layered patterns, I aim to represent the passage of time, much like a river that flows endlessly, leaving imprints of the past and flowing into the future. The gradient colors symbolize the endless progression of time, from past to present, from present to future. From warm yellows to cool blues, and deep blacks, each color carries its own temporal significance, reflecting emotional shifts and the changing nature of time.

The fine lines and textures of copperplate engraving work harmoniously with the theme of time, creating a strong visual impact and emotional resonance. Every line, every splash of color in these works tells a story. Just as time takes away fleeting moments and leaves countless fragments of memories, these fragments are reassembled and presented through art.
